While clicker training initially employs classical conditioning, it quickly becomes operant conditioning as soon as the animal intentionally repeats an action in order to earn a reward.

In a nutshell, clicker training is a type of positive reinforcement training that uses a small hand-held device (the clicker ) to signal to your dog that they have performed the desired behaviour. Marker training is similar, but instead of using a clicker, you use a verbal marker (such as yes  or good ).
