When a zero turns up, the player has two options: Reclaim half the bet and lose the other half. Leave the bet (en prison = in prison) for the next spin of the roulette wheel for an all or nothing gamble. If the subsequent spin is again zero, or does not match the imprisoned bet, then the whole bet is lost.

In the game of roulette, betting on either 0 or 00 (if you are playing American roulette) pays out at 35/1. If you are playing American roulette and do a "row bet", this means that you are betting on either 0 or 00. If the ball falls on either 0 or 00, you will receive a 17/1 payout.
